No one else can pick up your packet for you. Photo ID, and a valid USAT annual or one-day license are required to pick up your packet. You will be required to sign a waiver.
POOL OPEN: The pool will be open on Sunday morning at 6am for warm-up swims. This will only be for those who have gotten their packets and finished body marking.
BODY MARKING: We will start at about 5:30am on Sunday, just look for the light.
START & SWIM: The Sprint will start at 7:00am. Everyone needs to be lined- up. There will be 5 second intervals between swimmers. There will be a break after each group of 50 to spread out the field.
LITTER: We do not want to leave a trail of litter following the Triathlon. Goo containers, water bottles and the rest constitute a participant's equipment and can't be left on the course. See Rule 3.4 H, Abandoned Equipment. The penalties can be 2 minutes added, DQ'ed, or even worse, a littering ticket. As a practical matter, you can tuck the empty packet in your shorts or waistband and later put it in a trash can.
BIKE: Beware of the turn at Reston Parkway and Wiehle Ave. It is downhill and more than 90 degrees. Also, watch for cars encroaching into the bike lanes at Baron Cameron and Reston Parkway. Drivers may not understand how to make a right turn, when we have closed the turn lane. Bicycle handlebar end caps are required as are serviceable helmets in good condition.
RUN: Stay on the black path, even where the roadway is flatter. Anyone caught short-cutting the course will be disqualified.
WATER: Water points will be at the pool transition area and at the pool at the bottom or North Village Road at Wiehle.
FINISH: After finishing, please cleanup and packup your gear, have a snack and join us for the awards presentation, which will start at 10:00. Only a participant showing matching numbers can remove bikes and gear from the transition area.
